Remove User Profile from Registry PDF Print E-mail

Have you ever gone through and removed a users folder on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer like you did on Windows XP or 2000, only to find yourself with errors the next time that user logs into the computer. That's because Windows Vista/7/8 have new ways of handeling user profiles. If you've done this, here is your quick fix

  1. Click Start-> Run-> Regedit
  2. Navigate to the following registry key :“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList”
  3. Under ProfileList, scroll through the keys and find the user profile you you are looking to delete. To make it easier you will want to view the ProfileImagePath string value on the right side and search for the username in the profile path
  4. Once found, delete the entire registry key UNDER ProfileList

Vola!
